The young footballer was a fit and healthy individual until the night of June 9, 2020, when his friends noticed he looked pale and was unresponsive.

Daniel’s mother, Tracey Cain, recounted the ordeal and said that when she found out about her son’s condition, she went into automatic mum mode and phoned his father and sister. Despite doctors warning the family to be prepared for Daniel to be in a vegetative state if he woke up, after 25 days in a coma, he defied all odds and “woke up.”
Although Daniel’s cognitive function began to return, his short-term memory was significantly damaged by his injuries. However, his family remains hopeful as he is gradually improving and coming back to his former self.
Before his accident, Daniel was an “avid” footballer for Arsenal and played for Comets, Hemel Aces, and Hemel Town youth FC’s.
After his accident, he requires round-the-clock care, and his mother has taken it upon herself to provide the care he needs. Additionally, an organization called Neurokinex has provided Daniel with the opportunity to stand and walk again through intensive rehabilitation therapy, which costs between £1,008 to £2,016 per month.
