Water Sanitation & Hygiene: Lagos To Participate In 2023 ‘WASH’ Joint Sector Review In Liberia

Recently, the Lagos Water Corporation stepped up its efforts to ensure water sanitation and hygiene in Lagos by helping to organise an essay competition for secondary school students.

The Lagos water regulatory body has also joined the effort.

The body will be the state’s sole representative at an event in Liberia.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LASWARCO) will represent the State Government at the 2023 Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) joint sector review.
The event will be held in Monrovia, Liberia between April 25th – 27th 2023.

Mrs. ‘Funke Adepoju, Executive Secretary of LASWARCO, who will represent the state government is expected to present a keynote address at the high-level technical session and share modest achievements of the present administration in regulating standards in the water production and packaging in the subsector.
The Liberia joint sector review 2023, which will be a convergence of water, sanitation and hygiene administrators and experts in Monrovia, Liberia, is expected to assess progress made between 2018 – 2022 in the ‘WASH’ sector, identify key areas for improvement towards recommending actions to surmount issues in climate change, gender and health-related challenges in line with the SDG goal 6 – Availability of Sustainable Water Management and Sanitation For All.

Recall that the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LASWARCO) is saddled with the duties of regulating the water sector and providing the guidelines for packaging drinking water services, which includes scientific analysis of sources of water and enforcing the parameters for borehole drilling.
