Chelsea is currently going through one of its worst seasons in the Premier League, as the team is currently placed 11th in the 2022-2023 Premier League table, which is considered unexpected for the club.
The team is expected to dip into the transfer market to bolster its squad, particularly in the midfield, as Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic are all likely to secure an exit this summer.
Romano has been discussing Chelsea’s potential transfer targets for the past two months, and in his column for Caught Offside, he stated that he has previously mentioned the interest in Romeo Lavia and Manu Kone.
However, he also mentioned that the decision on which players to sign will ultimately be made by the new Chelsea coach, who is likely to be Mauricio Pochettino, before the start of the new season. He also emphasized that it is not a two-player race between these two, and the decision is still open.
Chelsea’s struggles this season have been attributed to their midfield, which has been underperforming, leading to the team’s poor form.
