‘Hands Caught In The Cookie Jar:’ Five Cable Vandals Meet Waterloo In Lagos

Public electricity cables have been subjects of theft in recent times.

Some suspected thieves stole some cables in the Alausa area of Lagos recently.

However, the police have taken them into custody.
Eko Hot Blog reports that operatives of Alausa Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested five suspects for vandalising Lagos State Electricity Board cables mounted around 7-Up Bottling Company, Alausa area of Lagos State.
The command made the disclosure in a statement by its spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Thursday.

According to Hundeyin, Ukah Gabriel ‘m’ aged 29, Emmanuel Ajikula ‘m’ aged 29, Athanisus Lornumbe ‘m’ aged 28, Titus Akuha ‘m’ aged 18 and Felix Lornumbe ‘m’ aged 27 were arrested in the act on Monday, April 24, 2023 following receipt of credible intelligence on the suspicious movement of some hoodlums in the area.
“Tools and vandalised cables were recovered from the suspects,” the police spokesperson said.

He added that the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
