EKO HOT BLOG reports that Shehu Sani,  a former lawmaker, has revealed why the Federal Government postponed the 2023 national census.

The social critic alleged that due to a lack of funds, the federal government transferred the responsibility of funding the census, which is expected to cost around $1.8 billion, to the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.

Sani gave the hint on Saturday via a post on his verified Twitter handle.

This online news platform had earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari approved the postponement of the 2023 Population and Housing Census.

The decision followed a meeting with some members of the Federal Executive Council and the National Population Commission on Friday night.

Buhari said a new date would be determined by the incoming administration.
