Speaking to Rai, President De Laurentiis expressed his intention to retain the majority of Napoli’s standout players for the next season. He further disclosed that all necessary arrangements have been made to extend coach Luciano Spalletti’s contract.
“I will not sell Victor Osimhen this summer — no way,” De Laurentiis affirmed firmly. “I’ve already activated and triggered the option to extend Luciano Spalletti’s contract for next season.”
With 22 goals scored so far in the campaign, Osimhen is on track to become the first African player to clinch the Italian Serie A Golden Boot.
He has already surpassed Samuel Eto’o’s record of 21 goals, setting a new benchmark for the most goals scored by an African player in a single Serie A season. Moreover, the Nigerian striker has equaled George Weah’s record as the highest-scoring African player in Serie A history with 46 goals.
Several high-profile clubs, including Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal, have been linked with a potential move for Osimhen during the summer transfer window.
