  • Nollywood actress, Georgina Onuoha shows no sympathy in her judgment of the Ekweremadus in the human trafficking saga reigning the social media space.

  • According to Onuoha, the verdict serves as justice for the neglect of the Nigerian health sector and the plight of poor Nigerians.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that prominent Nollywood actress, Georgina Onuoha, has openly ridiculed former Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, following their recent imprisonment in the United Kingdom.

The Ekweremadus were sentenced by a UK court, with Ike receiving a prison term of 9 years and eight months, while Beatrice and another individual named Obinna Obetta were sentenced to four years and ten years, respectively.

This sentence marks the first of its kind under the Modern Slavery Act, following their conviction for involvement in organ trafficking.

The trial lasted six weeks, and in March, the trio were found guilty of conspiring to arrange the travel of a young Nigerian man, David Nwamini, to the UK for the purpose of exploiting him and extracting his kidney. The intended recipient of the organ was Ekweremadu’s ailing daughter, Sonia.

Georgina Onuoha, known for her outspoken nature, took to social media to express her reaction to the news of their imprisonment. She openly mocked the Ekweremadus, suggesting that the sentence served them right.

Additionally, the actress accused Ike Ekweremadu of embezzling funds that were allocated for building hospitals in Nigeria.

In her statement, Onuoha addressed Nigerian doctors, nurses, and caregivers, urging them not to jeopardize their professional licenses for the sake of Nigerian politicians, especially those who deliberately neglect the healthcare system in their home country while seeking medical treatment abroad.

The actress emphasized the hypocrisy of politicians who mistreat Nigerian clinicians but seek their services when they travel overseas.

Regarding Ike Ekweremadu, Onuoha expressed her hope that his prison term could be extended. She pointed out that the ex-senator had been entrusted with a substantial amount of money, potentially amounting to millions or billions, to construct hospitals in his home state. However, she alleged that he had embezzled the funds instead.

The actress concluded her statement by expressing her well wishes to Sonia, Ekweremadu’s daughter, hoping for her good health and recovery.

Georgina Onuoha wrote:

“And let the choir say Amen. Serves them right. Do not take advantage of anyone because you are in a place of power. Dear Nigerian doctors, nurses and caregivers, do not sacrifice your licenses for anyone let alone Nigerian politicians who deliberately neglect our healthcare system back home but can rush overseas to be treated by the same Nigerian clinicians they treat poorly back home.

“As for the ex-senator, I hope they can extend his imprisonment. This same man was given millions if not billions to build hospitals back home in his state, he embezzled it. As for their daughter, I wish her well and good health.”

Georgina Onuoha’s comments shed light on the broader issues of corruption and the disparity between the healthcare services enjoyed by Nigerian politicians and the average citizens. Her bold criticism reflects the frustrations felt by many who witness the neglect of Nigeria’s healthcare system by those in power.
