Tyre bursts typically occur due to the sudden loss of air pressure, resulting in a rapid deflation. The AON emphasizes that such incidents are not unique to any particular airline and that exaggerated reports only serve to create unnecessary fear among the flying public.

In a statement issued by Allen Onyema, Vice President of the AON and Chairman of Air Peace, it was underscored that tyre bursts can happen to any airline and are not indicative of an airline’s safety standards. Onyema also expressed gratitude that no passengers or crew members were injured during the incident, as all individuals on board were safely evacuated.

While acknowledging the potential dangers associated with tyre bursts, the AON voiced their concerns about sensational reporting whenever such incidents occur.

They stressed that tyre bursts are commonplace in the aviation industry and urged the media to exercise responsibility in their coverage to avoid unnecessarily alarming unsuspecting passengers.
