EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a heartbreaking incident, Job Alawari-Kei, a 19-year-old student enrolled in the Federal University of Otuoke (FUO) located in Bayelsa State, has tragically lost his life due to an alleged drug overdose.

The third-year student, pursuing a degree in Petroleum and Gas Engineering, reportedly collapsed and succumbed to the effects of the illicit substance locally known as Colo.

Asinim Butswat, the spokesperson for the Bayelsa State Police Command, confirmed the devastating incident and revealed that an investigation is underway. The lifeless body of Job Alawari-Kei has been transferred to a hospital, where a thorough autopsy will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.

Providing details of the incident, Butswat shared, “On the evening of May 3, 2023, around 10:00 PM, Job Alawari Kei, a 19-year-old male student enrolled in the Petroleum and Gas Engineering Department of Federal University Otuoke, reportedly collapsed after consuming illicit substances.” Tragically, despite efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The sudden loss of the young student has cast a somber atmosphere over the university campus and has prompted authorities to take swift action. The university administration, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, is intensifying efforts to address the concerning issue of substance abuse among students.
