The video, initially posted on Yul Edochie’s Facebook page, drew heavy criticism, particularly due to its timing while Yul’s first wife, May, is still mourning the loss of their late son.
In a subsequent video shared by Yul on Wednesday, Judy Austin acknowledged her fans for their prayers and simultaneously taunted those who had directed curses towards her.
In her own words, Austin stated, “To the people who hate me, who curse me, who attack me without knowing anything about me, I want to say a very big thank you; because without your curses, God won’t be blessing me as much as He is blessing me now. Without your curses, I won’t have come this far in life so soon, so fast. So, I’m thanking you for making it your duty to lay curses on me every day, and by so doing, giving God the reasons to bless me every day, without me working for it without me lifting a finger.”
She further emphasized her love for her critics, highlighting her belief in the importance of following God’s teachings to love one another, even in the face of hostility. Austin expressed that she held no grudges and wished blessings upon those who had showered her with curses and insults.
The video sparked extensive engagement on Facebook, accumulating over 16,000 comments as people continued to express their opinions and criticize the Asaba-based Nollywood actress.
Among the voices of dissent, Izuka Antony remarked, “Nobody hates you, dear; it’s your attitude that people are criticizing. Be humane for once and know that this world is not only about you and yours. It was too early for you to start jubilating when your co-wife is in grief. Be tolerant for once, madam.”
Peggy Omon also shared her confusion, questioning the motive behind the videos and highlighting the shared responsibility and empathy between co-wives. She pondered whether Judy Austin was pleased with the first wife’s loss and expressed her frustration with the situation.
As the controversy surrounding Judy Austin’s statements continues to unfold, public sentiment remains divided. Some have echoed criticism, urging her to consider the feelings of others, while others defend her right to express her gratitude and respond to adversity in her own way.
