  • An FRSC official has suggested that Sharia laws should be included in the prosecution of traffic violations.

  • Abdullahi stated this during an interview with journalists on Thursday in Bauchi.

  • He argued that the current laws governing road accidents are not strict enough.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Mr. Yusuf Abdullahi, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Bauchi State, has proposed the inclusion of Sharia Law in the prosecution of traffic offenders as a means to reduce road crashes in the country.

Abdullahi shared his views during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Bauchi.

EDITOR’S PICKS

He insisted that the current laws governing road accidents are not strict enough, and proposes the implementation of stricter laws, such as Sharia Law, into traffic regulations.

Abdullahi stated that the measure would promote safe road habits, encourage respect for traffic rules, and instil discipline among motorists.

He stated that it could potentially reduce the number of dangerous incidents on the road caused by irresponsible driving.

Consider implementing Sharia Law in cases of road accidents to increase awareness. The level of care among our people could be improved, and some vehicle owners may not regularly perform checks. If Sharia Law is not introduced, some road users in this area may not consider the consequences of their actions.

The implementation of Sharia Law is believed to have a positive impact on road safety, as it is thought to address negative behaviours exhibited by drivers and other road users that contribute to accidents.

Some individuals may choose to exceed the speed limit due to a desire to earn more income, rather than taking a break.

EDITOR’S PICKS

If the law is introduced, in the event of a crash, an investigation would take place and those involved would be held responsible for any damages caused.
