Nigerian Actor Mukaila Adedigba Is Dead

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Yoruba Nollywood, the vibrant film industry in Nigeria, has been hit with another devastating loss as veteran actor Mukaila Adedigba has passed away.

The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners’ Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) announced the untimely death of Adedigba, along with fellow actors Wasiu Adegbenro, Murphy Afolabi, and English actor Saint Obi.

The news had sent shockwaves through TAMPAN and the Nigerian artistic community, coming at a time when efforts were being made to improve the welfare and quality of life for artists.

Bolaji Amusan, the National President of TAMPAN, expressed deep sorrow and extended his condolences to the families of the departed colleagues. He prayed that they would find the strength to bear the loss.

The loss of Adedigba, Adegbenro, Afolabi, and Obi has left a void in the industry and intensified concerns about the increasing rate of untimely deaths among members of TAMPAN and the broader creative sector.

Amusan emphasized the need for TAMPAN members and Nigerian artists in general to prioritize their health and well-being. He called for a renewed focus on self-care and encouraged individuals in the creative industry to make time for recreation and take periodic breaks from work.

The string of recent tragedies serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of maintaining good health and finding a balance between professional commitments and personal well-being.

In addition to Adedigba, Afolabi, and Adegbenro, the industry mourns the loss of Saint Obi, who passed away at the age of 57 after battling a prolonged illness.

Murphy Afolabi, aged 49, reportedly lost his life due to complications arising from a slip in the bathroom on Sunday. Mukaila Adedigba’s demise occurred on May 13, while Wasiu Adegbenro, a renowned sound recordist known as “Techno,” passed away on May 14.

The Nigerian artistic community mourns the loss of these talented individuals and pays tribute to their contributions to the world of cinema. Their untimely departures serve as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment.
