While Gbajabiamila openly supported the chairman of the House Committee on Land Transportation, Faleke threw his weight behind Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji, representing KauraNamoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency of Zamfara State.
The power struggle between the two APC leaders extended to their aspirations of becoming the Chief of Staff to the former governor of Lagos State.
However, recent reports indicate that Faleke and Gbajabiamila have resolved their differences with the intervention of President-elect Tinubu.
Tinubu reportedly urged Faleke to withdraw his support for Jaji and instead back the candidate favored by the APC for the position of House Speaker.
An anonymous source, who was present at the meeting, revealed, “The much-publicized rift between Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila and Hon. Abiodun is over.
Both of them are allies of the President-elect, and he has called them to order. They have been persuaded to put their differences aside. They have been informed that public conflicts among loyalists of Asiwaju Tinubu should be avoided.”
The source continued, “Hon. Faleke has been instructed to align with the party’s position on zoning. As a result, he has abandoned his preferred candidate for House speakership, Hon. Sani Jaji.
He now supports the APC’s anointed aspirant, endorsed by President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In return, Hon. Abiodun Faleke will assume the role of Chairman of Appropriation in the 10th House of Representatives. This decision has been finalized and confirmed.”
This reconciliation between Gbajabiamila and Faleke brings relief to the APC, as it resolves the internal discord surrounding the House leadership positions. It highlights Tinubu’s influence and ability to foster unity among party members.
