State Chairman says he was one of the union’s pillars.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Lagos State Council has mourned one of its members, Mr Ray Ugochukwu, who passed on Thursday after a brief illness.
The Chairman of the union, Mr Adeleye Ajayi, announced this in a statement in Lagos on Thursday.

Ajayi said Ugochukwu was one of the pillars of the Lagos Council and served the union meritoriously.
“With heavy hearts, we mourn a media giant, a versatile unionist and a brilliant journalist, Mr Ray Ugochukwu, who passed on, on Thursday.
“The death of Ray came as a big shock to the union. We are going to miss his courageous attributes and mentorship.
“He was also one of the pillars of the Lagos Council of NUJ and served the union meritoriously in his capacities as the Chairman, Seminar Committee.
“Also, he served as a member, Committee on Milestone Recognition of Media Icons In Nigeria,” he said.
Ajayi said he had spent most of his life ensuring the advancement of Maritime Reporting as well as the welfare of Journalists.
He stated that Ugochukwu worked in several media houses.

The Chairman said among his giant strides included a former President Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN), a President of Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN) and a former Chairman of the Daily Times Chapel of NUJ.
He said the legacies of Ugochukwu were indelible and would exist forever.
The Chairman prayed that God would grant the soul of Ray Ugochukwu eternal rest.
