EKO HOT BLOG reports that with one final game remaining in the La Liga season, Barcelona has been hit by the departure of one of their revered players. Jordi Alba, the talented Spanish left-back, has reportedly terminated his contract with the club, according to sources.
This unexpected development comes just three days before Barcelona’s last league match, where they aim to secure their 29th victory and surpass the 90-point mark against Celta Vigo on Sunday.

Having already clinched the La Liga title, their 27th triumph and the first since the 2018/19 season, Barcelona celebrated their success with a 3-0 victory over Mallorca at the iconic Nou Camp last week. However, the Catalan side will bid farewell to two key figures, Jordi Alba and captain Sergio Busquets, who received an emotional send-off during the Mallorca game, knowing that their time at the club is coming to an end this summer.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Alba, known for his marauding runs down the left flank, has severed ties with Barcelona. In what was meant to be the final year of his contract, Alba has decided to waive 60% of his salary. The 34-year-old fullback was honored with a special farewell event on Thursday before officially annulling his contract at the club’s offices.
Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez had not planned to include Alba or Busquets in the match against struggling Celta Vigo. Instead, he wanted their final appearances for the club to take place at the hallowed grounds of the Nou Camp.
Jordi Alba’s journey with Barcelona began in his youth before he made a move to Valencia. He then returned to the Catalan giants in a €14 million switch, amassing an impressive 450 appearances. Alba’s tenure at Barcelona was marked by numerous successes, including six La Liga titles and a Champions League triumph.
The termination of Alba’s contract comes a year earlier than anticipated, and although rumors have linked him with a move to Saudi Arabia, the experienced defender revealed that he has not received any offers thus far. Alba expressed his interest in remaining at Barcelona but explained that the decision to part ways was in the best interest of both parties.
