Messi’s departure from Barcelona came as a shock to the football world, as financial constraints prevented the Spanish club from registering his contract within LaLiga’s spending limits. As a result, the Argentine forward made the move to PSG, signing a two-year deal that is set to expire in June.
Reflecting on his time in Ligue 1, Messi candidly expressed his reservations about the experience. He explained the challenges he faced, including having to live in a hotel for an extended period with his family while his children adjusted to a new school and environment.
“It was very, very, very difficult,” Messi admitted. “We never, ever wanted to come [to Paris]. But the family supports me, and the decision was a collective one, not only mine.”
While the initial transition to life in Paris posed difficulties for his family, Messi shared that they have gradually adapted to their new surroundings. Despite the adjustment, there remains a tinge of sadness among them, as their stay in Paris was not part of their original plans.
“I heard reports of La Liga giving the green light but the truth is that many, really many things were still missing in order to make my return to Barça happen”, Lionel Messi was also quoted saying to MD
“I didn’t want to be responsible for them to sell players or reduce salaries. I was tired”.
As Messi prepares to embark on a new chapter in his career with Inter Miami, his unexpected revelation sheds light on the challenges and sacrifices he and his family have faced along the way.
