The Late Chief Obagun created the stationery store in 1953, which later grew into the first indigenous paper converter to manufacture and market top-quality stationery in Nigeria.
The late industrialist had started trading paper just after leaving school by at first buying locally before he started wholesale imports.
In time, he was able to build a team around him that shared his ideals of integrity, his vision and commitment to excellence.
OSS soon expanded into importation of many other paper products over the years and built a solid reputation for supplying quality paper products. In fact, the name Onward came to be closely associated with quality.
In 1973, Chief Obagun created Onward Paper Mill to manufacture stationery products like notebooks and envelopes amongst others. In 1989, Epesok paper mill was created to manufacture jumbo rolls and tissue products.
Besides being a successful entrepreneur, the deceased was passionate about environmental sustainability and innovation, prompting him to support the forestry policy to ensure the renewal of depleted resources.
He was also known for helping the less privileged in the society by providing jobs to young people through his businesses and delivering gifts to vulnerable people.
Chief Obagun also donated millions of naira to various educational, health, religious, and social causes across the country.
He was born in Poka, Epe of Lagos State and is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and siblings.
