DSS Charges Emefiele To Court
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Department of Security Services (DSS) has charged Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to court.
DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunaya made this known in a press statement issued on Thursday.
Mr Afunaya added that the decision to charge Emefiele to court was made in accordance with the directive of the federal capital territory high court.
It would be recalled that the federal high court in Abuja had on Wednesday, 12th July ruled that the DSS charge Emefiele to court or release him as his continuous detention violates his right to fair hearing as enshrined in the constitution.

A statement by the DSS spokesperson Dr Peter Afunanya says the Service had, in 2022, applied for a Court Order to detain him in respect of a criminal investigation. Though Mr Emefiele had obtained a restraining order from an FCT High Court, the Service, however, arrested him in June, 2023, on the strength of suspected fresh criminal infractions and information, one of which forms the basis for his current prosecution.
The Service assures the public of professionalism, justice and fairness in handling this matter and indeed the discharge of its duties within the confines of the law.
