Entrepreneurship has emerged as a powerful tool in youth development and economic growth. It provides a viable avenue for these young Nigerians to create jobs, spur innovation, and contribute to the country’s economic development.

Incidentally, the young people of Ilara Kingdom in Epe, Lagos State, are set to get much more entrepreneurship opportunities to build and develop their community and its environs.

This comes after the High Commissioner of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to Nigeria and newly installed Aare Atunloto of Ilara Kingdom, Mr. Wendell De Landro, disclosed plans to establish a Trade School for the youths of Ilara.

De Landro made this known to Eko Hot Blog after his installation as the Aare Atunloto of Ilara Kingdom on Friday, July 14, 2023.

He noted that his development plans for Ilara Kingdom would be focused mainly on the youths and entrepreneurship.

The Trinidad & Tobago diplomat stated that the Trade School would enable youths acquire useful skills like plumbing, welding, building construction, woodwork, electrical works, among others.

He explained that most of the construction in Ilara is outdated and in need of renovation; and the Trade School would provide the youths with the right skill and tools to make innovative changes and bring development to the community and its environs.

The Aare Atunluto also disclosed plans to establish small manufacturing companies to manufacture commodities like cashew, mango etc. He said this will not only create employment opportunities, but it will also create and accelerate economic growth.

Reacting to De Landro’s chieftaincy title conferment, the former deputy vice chancellor of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Associate Professor Onibon Nosiru, who was present at the ceremony, highlighted the similarities between Trinidad & Tobago and Yoruba land and why the installation of De Landro as the Aare Atunloto of Ilara is significant.

He told Eko Hot Blog that Epe, in its ethnicity may be considered similar to Trinidad & Tobago due to similar cultural diversity in food, carnivals and way of life.

The academic added that the installation would enhance and deepen the bilateral relationship between Trinidad and Tobago and Nigeria and spur development across the country, especially in Ilara kingdom.

He urged the people of Ilara and the entire Epe to embrace the Aare Atunluto and the growth and development his installation would bring.

On her part, the Iyalode of Ilara Kingdom, Alhaja Lolade mentioned that although some indigenes of the community may have doubts about a foreigner in their midst, she emphasised that De Landro as the Aare Atunluto makes him one of them.

She urged all indigenes to welcome him warmly and and embrace the positive advantages he would bring to the community in the near future.

Alhaja Lolade offered prayers for the Aare Atunluto, that he would not fail in his endeavours and that his reign would favour and benefit the Ilara Kingdom and its environs.
