Chibok Girls: PDP Defends Jonathan, Says APC’s Attack Seeks To Divert Attention From Corruption In Buhari’s Administration
The Peoples Democratic Party PDP has berated the All Progressive Congress for attacking ex-President Goodluck Jonathan over the abduction of the Chibok school girls in Borno state.
The party described the attack as a plot by the ruling All Progressive Congress APC to divert Nigerians attention from the corruption that has characterized the Buhari’s administration.
The opposition party made this known in a press statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan on Sunday.
Ologbondiyan said “the distortion and groundless attack on former President Goodluck Jonathan is a desperate tactics by the APC and the Buhari presidency to divert attention from recent shocking corruption and fraud revelations in which close relatives and confidantes of Mr President are mentioned.”
“The PDP has been made aware of how the presidency has been in a frezy to suppress investigation and deflect public enquiries from the arrest of President Buhari’s known confidant deported from the United kingdom for alleged international passport scam and money laundering, as it is known that an inquest will further expose huge rot in the Buhari Presidency,” he added.
Ologbondiyan further noted that Nigerians should observe how the Buhari presidency has been silent over the revelation that APC leaders and some Cabals in the presidency stole over N14trillion meant for the wellbeing of Nigerians.
He said “the PDP invites Nigerians to note how APC had remained silent since revelations that its key leader and the cabal at the Presidency are involved in stealing over N14trillion meant for the wellbeing of Nigerians.”
The opposition party however, challenged the ruling APC to speak on the alleged diversion of N500b meant for Social Investment Program.
“Our party further challenges the APC and the Buhari Presidency to speak out on the alleged diversion of the N500bn meant for the Social Investment Programme among other humongous fraud directly perpetrated under the Buhari Presidency,” Ologbondiyan said.
He added “furthermore, in trying to tar the PDP, the APC forgets that it is already common knowledge that all the bad eggs that brought a bad name to the PDP have since left our repositioned party to the APC where their National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, who also has a huge corruption allegation on his neck, admitted that the party is a haven for corrupt persons.”
