Buhari Seeks Senate’s Approval To Pay Kogi N10bn Few Weeks To Governorship Election In The State
The Buhari led Federal government has written to the Senate asking for its permission to pay Kogi state N10bn.
The request was contained in the letter President Buhari sent to the Senate leadership on Tuesday.
The presidency claimed the N10bn was for the projects executed by the state on behalf of the Federal government.
Buhari said his request was based on the resolution passed by the eighth Senate.
It could however, be recalled that the gubernatorial election in Kogi state has been slated for next month, November. The timing of this development could raise a number of logical questions, such as why has the Federal government waited for so long until a couple of weeks to the governorship election before deciding to pay the state for the projects executed on its behalf?
Meanwhile, the ruling party the All Progressive Congress APC also rules in Kogi state. The Governor of the state, Yahaya Bello is seeking reelection to the office of Governor.
