UPDATED: Supreme Court Affirms Tinubu’s Victory, Dismisses Atiku, Obi’s Appeal
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election. election.

Verdicts On Atiku’ And PDPs Petitions
Justice Okoro rejected the PDP’s motion for the court to admit fresh evidence to prove Tinubu’s alleged fake certificate, citing failure to meet the 180-day timeframe provided by the constitution to amend applications.
The court stated that the appellants failed to convince the apex court on why it waited until after the lower court had delivered the judgement before bringing the said depositions to the court.
Also the supreme court ruled that the failure of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to upload results on the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) portal cannot be a ground upon which an election is nullified.

Additionally, the court dismissed the arguments regarding the constitutional requirement that a presidential candidate must secure a minimum of 25 percent of votes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), among other requirements, to be declared the winner.
Furthermore, the claims of suppression of votes and multiple voting were discarded by the lead justice. The justice resolved all the seven issues brought against Tinubu’s tribunal victory against the appellants.
“On the whole, it is my view that there is no merit in this appeal,” Justice Inyang Okoro said.
Atiku had sought to overturn the judgment of the presidential election petition tribunal which affirmed Tinubu’s election as president.
Peter Obi’s Petitions
The Appeal brought by Peter Obi was dismissed in 5-minutes. The apex justices held that the issues for determination was same as that of Atiku’s appeal except for issue 4 which has to do with double nomination of Kashim Shettima.
It went ahead to dismiss the appeal saying that it would not go over to repeat what it had treated before now.
“On the whole, having resolved all the issues against the appellant, it is my view that there is no merit in the appeal and it is hereby dismissed,” Justice Inyang Okoro said in dismissing Atiku’s appeal.
