Eleven members of the Assembly, including two principal officers, had, in a statement on Friday, dissociated themselves from a fresh letter sent to the Ondo State Chief Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola, to set up a panel to probe Aiyedatiwa.
The fresh letter to the CJ came about a week after the Ondo lawmakers had earlier said they were dropping the impeachment proceedings against Aiyedatiwa, following the intervention of the national leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.
The eleven lawmakers said the report of the fresh letter to the CJ came to them as a shock, insisting that the Assembly had dropped the planned impeachment of the deputy governor.
But speaking with reporters at the weekend, the House Majority Leader, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, stated that it is untrue that the Assembly members are divided over Aiyedatiwa’s impeachment.
The majority leader admitted that some people are trying to play politics to divide the lawmakers, stressing that the House remained united in the decision to probe and impeach the deputy governor.
