Ondo Assembly Presses On With Impeachment Plan As Akeredolu Rejects Aiyedatiwa’s Apology
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, has said that the recent public apology of Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu would not stall the impeachment proceedings.
Oladiji, who said Aiyedatiwa’s apology was not the concern of the Assembly, stated that the move by the deputy governor was a personal issue with his boss.
Aiyedatiwa had, last week, apologised to Akeredolu over the protracted political crisis in the state. On his part, Akeredolu, who responded through his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Doyin Odebowale, stated that Aiyedatiwa should face the allegations levelled against him by the Assembly instead of apologising.
Meanwhile, the Majority Leader of the Assembly, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, has said there was no crisis in the Assembly following the resolve of 11 out of 26 lawmakers to distance themselves from the fresh letter written to the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Olusegun Odusola, by the Speaker requesting that a seven-man probe panel be set up against the deputy governor.
According to Ogunmolasuyi, the Assembly remained united in the decision to probe and impeach the deputy governor. He said: “The House is in order; though some people are trying to play politics to divide us, it is not possible; we are together, the House is not divided.”
