By Babawale Solomon
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, HRM Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, has hailed Hon. Wale Raji, the member representing Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for facilitating the construction of new projects in the Epe Division.
He gave the commendation on Thursday during the inauguration of the Iraye Primary Healthcare Centre, a strategic 1km road in Odosiwola with solar streetlights, and 83 new stalls at the Mojoda Market, all within Eredo LCDA.
Oba Ogunsanwo prayed for the success of development initiatives in Epe and emphasized the vital need for vigilant safeguarding against potential vandalism, underscoring the value of these crucial developments.
The monarch, who recently celebrated his third anniversary on the throne of his forefathers, as the 55th Alara of the Ilara Kingdom, described the projects as invaluable.
“It’s something invaluable, something great, and worth celebrating is what Hon. Wale has done in this community today,” the Alara said.
“We give kudos to the honourable member representing Epe federal constituency; he has turned Epe into a construction site that creates employment opportunities for the people of the division,” Oba Ogunsanwo said, while extending prayers and well-wishes for the lawmaker’s continued success.
“All these wonderful projects done here today, please don’t let people vandalize them. It’s for our benefit. With this health centre, there’s no need running to the general hospital in Epe or the one in Ijebu-Ode.
“Don’t let thieves vandalize it, try and protect it, the road, don’t let anyone destroy it, even the market rehabilitated, make sure it is clean always because it is said that cleanliness can overcome any diseases.”
The Alara of Ilara Kingdom concluded with a series of heartfelt prayers for the sanctity and success of the commissioned projects.
Earlier, Hon. Raji promised to ensure that the Epe Division is not left out in the socio-economic development of Lagos State.
“Epe cannot be left out in the socio-economic development of Lagos State when it comes to organisation. I have played my own part. I have handed over the health facility to the Lagos State government and local government. The maintenance is now their responsibility,” he said.
“I’m sure we have responsible government at both the state and local government levels I’m sure they will discharge their responsibility of maintaining the facility very well.
“As for the market, it now lies in the hands of both the market leadership and the local government administration and I don’t have any doubt in my mind that they will do a good job in maintaining the facility.”
The Deputy Governor of Lagos state, Obafemi Hamzat, who was present to commission the projects, hailed their significance.
“As the saying goes, Health is Wealth and a healthy nation is said to be a wealthy nation. Given that, the significance of sound healthcare delivery in the socio-economic development of any society becomes very imperative and one can, therefore, appreciate the provision of the newly constructed Primary Healthcare Centre to serve the immediate medical and healthcare needs of the community,” he said.
Hamzat highlighted the multiplicative effect of the projects and announced plans to establish an Accident and Emergency Centre at the General Hospital Epe, replicating such centers in other areas for prompt medical care for accident victims.
He further urged the community to safeguard these projects against vandalism, ensuring their sustained functionality for the benefit of the residents.
