Ondo: PDP Accuses Cabal Of Operating Akeredolu’s Government, Embezzling Funds
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has accused an alleged cabal of hijacking the government of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, resulting in an economic downturn. The PDP has called for Governor Akeredolu to transfer power to his deputy, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to save the state from further harm.
According to Mr Fatai Adams, the PDP state chairman, the prolonged absence of Governor Akeredolu has created an opportunity for individuals within and outside of the government to exploit and embezzle state resources. He expressed concerns about the lack of clear leadership in the government, with the governor still on sick leave and the deputy governor facing political challenges.

The PDP chairman emphasized the detrimental impact of the current situation on the state’s finances and overall development. He urged Governor Akeredolu to follow the advice he once gave to late President Umar Yar’Adua during his illness and transfer power to the deputy governor, allowing him to focus on his health.
In response, the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Ade Adetimehin, dismissed the PDP’s claims and challenged them to provide evidence of the alleged cabal. Adetimehin labeled the PDP as a drowning party, highlighting that several of its members had defected to the APC.
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State, Mr Charles Titiloye, also refuted the allegations, stating that there was no cabal within the government. Titiloye denounced the accusations as political blackmail.
Governor Akeredolu has been absent from the state for an extended period, seeking medical treatment abroad. Although he initially stated that his absence would only last 21 days, he later sought an extension and returned to the country three months later. Since his return, he has been residing in Ibadan, Oyo State, rather than Ondo State.
