Insecurity: Tinubu Meets Service Chiefs In Aso Villa
Eko Hot Blog reports that President Bola Tinubu is currently in a closed-door meeting with service chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The agenda of the meeting is not yet known, but it was gathered that the president summoned the security chiefs concerning the growing cases of banditry attacks in the nation’s capital.
Recall that gunmen had on January 5, raided a community in the Bwari area council of Abuja and abducted ten people, including a family of six.
On Sunday, the abductors killed Nabeeha, one of the six sisters, purportedly as a warning to the family for failing to pay the ransom of N60 million.
Following the development, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, held a meeting with heads of security agencies in Abuja.
Speaking at the meeting, Wike assured FCT residents that their safety is guaranteed.
He said the government was working to support security agents with all what they need to tackle insecurity.
Among those in attendance are heads of security agencies in the FCT, top officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), council chairmen as well as traditional rulers.
Wike warned the area council chairmen to be alive to their responsibility at the local levels.
He stressed the need for the security apparatus to re-strategize and redouble their efforts to tame insecurity in the territory.
