Eko Hot Blog reports In a bid to enhance education, the Bayelsa State Government plans to emphasize the teaching of Ijaw, French, and Chinese languages, alongside science and mathematics, in public schools.

Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, during a visit by the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, emphasized the significance of preparing students for diverse career opportunities in these subjects.

The inclusion of Chinese in the curriculum is justified by China’s growing economic influence in global trade and commerce. This forward-thinking approach aligns with global trends, ensuring students are well-prepared for the future.

Ewhrudjakpo highlighted the government’s commitment to STEM education, emphasizing the deliberate recruitment of teachers in science, ICT, mathematics, and essential languages such as Chinese, French, and Ijaw.

Encouraging teamwork within the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, the deputy governor underscored the importance of including male students in their programs. This collaborative effort aims to achieve increased visibility in the male-dominated engineering profession.

In recognition of the government’s support, APWEN presented Deputy Governor Ewhrudjakpo with two special awards during the visit. This educational initiative showcases Bayelsa State’s dedication to providing a comprehensive education that aligns with global trends and future opportunities.
