Police Launch Investigation Into Death Of Unidentified Woman Found At Makurdi Dumpsite
Eko Hot Blog reports the Benue State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the tragic discovery of the body of a young woman at a refuse dump in Makurdi.
The victim, yet to be identified, was found tied, placed in a sack, and abandoned at a dumpsite near Iorapuu Adai Street, Nyima Hudco Quarters.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anene, “We have already opened an investigation into the matter. The identity of the victim is still unknown. The command will do everything to unravel the circumstances surrounding her death.”
This incident follows a similar case in July 2023 when the Benue State Environmental Sanitation Agency and the Benue Police Command confirmed the discovery of the lifeless body of Dorcas Shangev, a woman in her 30s, at a refuse dump. Shangev’s body was found with some body parts missing just 24 hours after celebrating her birthday. She resided at the Owner Occupier in the Makurdi metropolis.
In a disturbing event a month earlier, a catechist named Oliver Vershima from St. Martins Parish, Mbape in Adikpo deanery, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State, reportedly fled after being apprehended with the corpse of a lady.
The recent incident has raised concerns and prompted authorities to take swift action to determine the circumstances surrounding the unidentified woman’s death. The investigation aims to bring clarity to the situation and ensure that justice is served.
