Tinubu Assures Firm Action Against Insecurity As NAF Unveils Advanced Attack Helicopters
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a determined stance against the persisting insecurity in the country, President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, reiterated the administration’s commitment during the induction ceremony of two T129 Attack Combat Helicopters and one King Air Beechcraft 360ER mobility aircraft for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

The event, held at the 131 Engineering Group Hanger, Nigeria Air Force Base, Makurdi, showcased the government’s dedication to enhancing national security.
President Tinubu expressed gratitude for the significant role played by NAF since its establishment in 1964, emphasizing its critical contributions to national security, international operations, and humanitarian needs.
He assured continued support from the administration to NAF and the Armed Forces in the fight against terrorism, oil theft, and other criminal activities.
“Let me commend the Chief of Air Staff, officers and men for their commitment to enhancing national security. I assure you that the Tinubu administration will continue to support NAF and indeed, the Armed Forces of Nigeria towards combating terrorism, oil theft and other criminal activities.”
While acknowledging substantial progress in counterterrorism efforts, President Tinubu cautioned against premature celebration, urging a change in mindset, strategy, and tactics to address the persisting security challenges.
Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, detailed the recent additions to NAF’s fleet, including two Diamond 62 surveillance aircraft, two T-129 ATAK helicopters, and a King Air 360 ER.
He disclosed plans for the induction of 46 new aircraft over the next 18 months, emphasizing ongoing training for 170 pilots and 533 technicians.
The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, lauded President Tinubu’s foresight and unwavering support for the armed forces.
He highlighted the significance of the newly-acquired aircraft as a testament to the government’s determination to combat insecurity, urging NAF to maximize their capabilities.
Experts at the event provided insights into the T129 ATAK, describing it as a twin-engine, tandem-seat, multi-role attack helicopter designed for armed reconnaissance in challenging environments and various conditions.
The ceremony featured the signing of handing-over documents and an impressive aerial display by the T129 Attack Combat Helicopter, marking a milestone in the nation’s efforts to bolster its security apparatus.
