Highlighting the significance of this initiative, Uzoka-Anite emphasized the Ministry’s pivotal role in delivering President Bola Tinubu’s eight-point agenda, with a particular focus on economic growth and job creation, access to capital, improving the business environment, and poverty eradication.

“We are creating a national job centre to match available vacancies in industries and businesses with the available talent pool. The job centre will also train and equip people to be job-ready,” stated Uzoka-Anite, outlining the multifaceted approach of the government in addressing unemployment challenges.

The proposed job centres, envisioned to be established nationwide, will not only facilitate job matching but also provide essential training to enhance the employability of Nigerians.

“One such initiative is the Skill-Up Artisans program led by our parastatal, the Industrial Training Fund. The programme will empower artisans with tech-enabled skills training, licensing, access to essential toolkits, and promoting industry-standard excellence,” explained the Minister.

As part of the government’s commitment to addressing skills deficiencies among artisans, the Skill-Up Artisans (SUPA) program aims to standardize artisanal practice and reduce dependence on imported labor by ensuring the availability of a skilled workforce for domestic industries.

“SUPA addresses the skills deficiency among artisans and standardises artisanal practice, the programme ensures the availability of a skilled workforce for domestic industries, thereby reducing labour import dependency,” elaborated Uzoka-Anite, underscoring the program’s significance in promoting economic development.

In line with efforts to boost job creation, skills development, and talent export, the Minister highlighted the National Employment Transformation and Export Programme (NATEP).
