“I Will Not Let Them Down”: Baba Adinni’s Vision For Preserving Heritage and Uniting Epe
“I will listen to the people, not let them down, and do my utmost to improve our community,” declared Alhaji Chief Abiola Anifowoshe, the newly appointed Baba Adinni of Epe, in an exclusive interview with Eko Hot Blog.
The esteemed Baba Adinni, the fourth to hold the title in the Epe division, outlined his plans for uplifting Islamic faith, rebuilding the historic central mosque, and unifying the community.
“As Baba Adinni, I must uphold Islamic values, listen to all sides of issues in the community, and use God’s strength to find solutions,” he stated.
Born 71 years ago in Epe, Baba Adinni Abiola hails from a long line of leaders. His father started the first transport service in the Epe division area, while his grandfather landed the first plane in Epe after seeing one during Hajj and asking to be flown home.
With a community of 99.9% Muslims, the Baba Adinni aims to consult all groups to preserve heritage while improving things like the 1862 mosque. “I envision rebuilding it with donations to bring everyone together,” he remarked.
Transparency is also key. “All finances are publicly posted. For major spending, the whole community must agree,” noted Baba Adinni, mosque chairman for over 18 years.
By surpassing his predecessors, the Baba Adinni hopes his legacy will be uplifting Islamic faith, fostering unity, and progress. “I will not let the people down,” he stated.
Through redeveloping the central mosque and listening to all, Alhaji Chief Abiola Anifowoshe aims to improve Epe now and for future generations
