Yoruba Leaders Support Tinubu, Offer Solutions To Economic Hardship
Eko Hot Blog reports that Following concerns expressed by northern leaders over economic hardship in Nigeria, Yoruba traditional rulers and elders have rallied around President Bola Tinubu and offered suggestions to address the situation.

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, urged northerners to encourage youths to engage in agriculture to boost food production. He blamed saboteurs trying to incite Nigerians against the government, saying Tinubu should open borders to allow food imports and competition.
“The President is taking unprecedented steps in the direction that would place Nigeria on the path of development, some people would be offended and fight back, which is now causing hardship for the people,” Oba Akanbi stated.
The Deji of Akureland, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, acknowledged the high cost of living and called on all levels of government to intervene before protests escalate. He said traditional rulers will pacify their subjects and identify market saboteurs hiking prices.
Oba Akintunde Akinyemi of Iselu advocated for the government to distribute palliatives and open borders for some food imports to lower costs.
Ambassador Yemi Farounbi said state governments should mobilize crop production to boost local food supplies.
Meanwhile, Oba Sunday Amuseghan of Apoi land criticized Tinubu for dashing Nigerians’ hopes and failing to curb rising costs. He urged monitoring aid distribution through traditional rulers.
Other Yoruba leaders like the Alawo of Awo-Ekiti proposed empowering real farmers over paper farmers. The Olugbon of Orile Igbo advocated subsidizing consumables and encouraging displaced farmers.
