Awoniyi Out Of Eagles Friendlies
Eko Hot Blog reports that Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, has once again been ruled out of international duties for Nigeria after Nottingham Forest manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, confirmed that he picked up an injury days before the club’s English Premier League fixture against Luton Town.

Several reports circulating suggest that Awoniyi might be sidelined until April, resulting in the player being excluded from Nigeria’s upcoming friendlies against Ghana and Mali later this month.
While the extent of the injury has not been confirmed Espirito Santo admitted that the striker’s injury was a huge blow for the City Ground giants.
“He had a problem during the week. It is a big blow for us, a big blow. I don’t know how long he will be out for,” the tactician told the media.
Awoniyi recently returned from a groin injury that kept him out of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where Jose Peseiro’s team finished as runners-up after losing in the final to the hosts.
The former Liverpool player sustained an injury in November and was ruled out of action for three months, forcing him to miss the AFCON.
Awoniyi has been an important player for Nottingham Forest since he joined the club from Union Berlin last season but the Nigerian has seen his development marred by several injuries.
