Oshoala Assist Falls Short As Bay FC Suffers Defeat

Eko Hot Blog reports that Oshoala delivered an impressive individual performance for Bay FC, yet the newly formed National Women’s Soccer League team suffered a 2-1 loss to Washington Spirit in their second league match on Sunday.

The Super Falcons forward and her club had aimed to capitalize on their historic NWSL debut with a victory, but they surrendered a late goal, allowing the home side to steal the win.
In the 11th minute, Oshoala demonstrated her playmaking skills by delivering an exquisite through ball, assisting teammate Dorian Bailey for a close-range finish, granting Bay FC a brief 1-0 advantage.
However, their lead lasted only 12 minutes as the home team equalized through Croix Bethune, who also clinched the victory with a late strike in stoppage time, sealing a 2-1 win for Washington Spirit.
Last week, the 29-year-old made history for Bay FC on their NWSL debut by scoring their first ever goal in the US women topflight.
It took Oshoala 17 minutes to write her name in the club’s history books, scoring the only goal of the game by expertly turning home a pass from Tess Boade.

After their loss on match-day two, Bay FC, led by Oshoala, seeks to bounce back next week as they host Michelle Alozie’s Houston Dash for their inaugural home game at PayPal Park in San Jose, California, scheduled for Sunday.
