The incident highlights ongoing issue of souvenir collection on presidential plane
Eko hot blog reports that Journalists traveling with US President Joe Biden Air Force have been cautioned against taking souvenirs from Air Force One, following the discovery of missing items after Biden’s visit to the US west coast in February.
The White House Correspondents’ Association emphasized that pilfering items like branded pillowcases and gold-rimmed plates reflects poorly on the press pool and is strictly prohibited.
For years, reporters have reportedly helped themselves to items bearing the Biden’s Air Force One logo, including cutlery and towels.
While some, like Misha Komadovsky from Voice of America, claim to have innocently accumulated a collection, such behavior has drawn scrutiny.
Komadovsky, showcasing items like a paper cup and a box of presidential M&Ms, insists he committed no wrongdoing.
Air Force One boasts impressive amenities, including a suite for the president, medical facilities, dining rooms, and designated areas for various personnel.
With advanced avionics and defenses, the aircraft doubles as a mobile command center, equipped with secure communication systems.
While journalists occupy the rear of the plane, the warning to keep their hands off the souvenirs resonates throughout the press corps.
