Eko hot blog reports that New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Winston Peters, affirmed the country’s commitment to bolstering security alliances, announcing plans to finalize a new partnership agreement with NATO in the near future.

Peters, after participating in the NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs meeting in Brussels, emphasized New Zealand’s dedication to collaborating with NATO partners, citing support for Ukraine’s self-defense amid global security concerns.
“The outcome of the war in Ukraine will significantly impact global security, necessitating New Zealand’s active involvement,” Peters remarked, underscoring the nation’s readiness to fulfill its role.
Negotiations have been underway to establish a new partnership framework aligning with NATO’s revamped Individually Tailored Partnership Programme.
“We anticipate concluding this partnership in the coming months, identifying concrete areas for collaboration,” Peters added, indicating the imminent finalization of the agreement.
Additionally, Peters is slated to journey to the United States for discussions with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on prevalent global and regional security issues.
His itinerary includes addressing the UN General Assembly to address New Zealand’s concerns regarding the Gaza situation.
