EKO HOT BLOG reports that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to present a report on Thursday, naming members involved in anti-party activities during the 2023 general elections to the National Executive Committee (NEC).
The directive to compile these reports came from the national leadership of the PDP on March 26. The PDP National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, emphasized the importance of these post-2023 election reports during a meeting with state chairmen in Abuja.

Bature stated, “After the elections, we expected the state chapters to give us their reports… You are to tell us who was involved in anti-party activities and who did not; and based on that, the NEC will take a decision.”
A high-ranking member of the NWC confirmed that the anti-party report, likely to include former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike, would be submitted to the NEC on Thursday.
Wike, along with other PDP governors, had opposed the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. This opposition stemmed from Atiku’s decision not to select Wike as his vice presidential candidate after winning the presidential primary. Wike actively campaigned against Atiku and supported the former All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.
Additionally, the NEC meeting will address whether the party’s acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, should remain in office or be replaced. However, this issue is subject to an ongoing court matter.

The meeting will also include discussions on state congresses, reconciliation efforts, and disciplinary matters, with 52 members of the National Caucus Committee expected to attend.
As per the PDP Constitution 2017, the National Caucus consists of key party stakeholders, including the national chairman, who chairs the caucus.
