Eko Hot Blog reports that the President of the Epe Division Professional Women Association (EPWA), Mrs. Opeoluwa Balogun, says the association embarked on its latest empowerment programme to empower women for economic self-reliance.

Women from Epe, Eredo, Ikosi-Ejinrin, and Ibeju-Lekki received empowerment tools such as sewing and grinding machines.

In an exclusive interview with Eko Hot Blog, the EPWA president reiterated the association’s commitment to uplifting girls and women’s lives.

Mrs. Balogun stated that the distribution of sewing and grinding machines will be a catalyst for enhancing the beneficiaries’ livelihoods.

“He who raises a girl child raises a nation,” she said, referencing the old adage which preaches female empowerment.

The EPWA president also urged women to maximize the opportunities presented by the empowerment, emphasizing the importance of skill acquisition and entrepreneurship in alleviating poverty and contributing to societal progress.

Mrs. Balogun equally noted the pivotal role of women in shaping the future through the upbringing and education of their children, while urging them to instil values of diligence and self-sufficiency.

The event was presided over by Hon. Abiodun Mustain Tobun, representative of Epe Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

They lauded the association’s dedication, acknowledging the crucial role of empowered women in fostering household stability and community well-being.
