Eko Hot Blog reports that in response to criticism over the relocation of Osun indigenes from Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has provided explanations, citing security and welfare concerns as key factors behind the controversial move.
The governor addressed those questioning the decision to transport hundreds of youths back to their home state over the weekend.

Sanwo-Olu highlighted the influx of miscreants, beggars, and destitute individuals in various parts of Lagos, posing a security risk.
“As part of the exercise, 450 miscreants were rescued at the weekend,” he stated through his Information Commissioner, Gbenga Omotoso.
However, the governor emphasized that many of the relocated youths had pleaded for assistance due to the hardship they were facing in Lagos.
Omotoso revealed, “Of the lot, 371 pleaded for assistance to relocate to their various states due to the hardship they are facing in Lagos.”
Moreover, Sanwo-Olu underscored the government’s efforts towards rehabilitation, with Omotoso stating, “79 have been absorbed into some government facilities for rehabilitation after showing signs of being unwell.” This measure aims to provide support and care for those requiring medical attention.
The relocation effort was part of an ongoing operation to address security risks posed by the influx of miscreants, beggars, and the destitute in the state.

Sanwo-Olu defended the move as a necessary step to maintain law and order while also responding to the welfare needs of those struggling with hardship.
As the governor responds to critics, he maintains that the controversial relocation was a multi-faceted approach to tackle security concerns and provide assistance to those in need, including individuals from other states who requested to return home.
