NYSC: Three Corps Members Face Extended Service, Seven Others Abscond

Three NYSC members have faced extended service as seven others abscond.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has extended the service year of three corps members in Gombe State, according to State Coordinator Chinwe Nwachuku.
Meanwhile, 772 Batch B Stream I corps members have successfully completed their national service in the state.
However, seven corps members were reported to have absconded from their duties in the state.
During a low-key passing out ceremony for the batch on Thursday, NYSC State Coordinator Chinwe Nwachuku announced that out of 782 corps members, only 772 successfully completed their service, while 10 failed to do so due to various offenses committed during their tenure, as reported by Eko Hot Blog.
She announced that seven corps members absconded, three had their service extended, and 772 successfully completed their service, making them eligible to receive their discharge certificates.
Nwachuku expressed her joy in addressing the 772 corps members during their passing out ceremony, congratulating them on their achievement of serving their country in Gombe State.

She remarked, “Today marks a significant milestone in our lives. You have completed your service to the nation, and its time to bid farewell to this chapter of your journey.
“We came together as strangers, but we leave as friends, united by shared experience and memories.
“As we go our separate ways, remember that the values and skill developed during the service year will stay with you forever. Let’s hold on to the spirit of service, discipline and resilience that has defined our service year.”
Nwachuku commended the corps members for their active participation in Community Development Service, noting that, “Your initiatives and projects in your host communities have complemented the government’s efforts in developing rural areas.
“On behalf of the Director-General, Brig. Gen. YD Ahmed, I express the NYSC Management’s heartfelt gratitude for your significant contributions that have kept the scheme visible and relevant. May your selfless efforts be richly rewarded.”
She encouraged the corps members to serve as exemplary ambassadors of NYSC.
“As you venture into new horizons, let’s keep the bonds of friendship and continue to support and uplift each other,” the NYSC coordinator stated.
“Finally, it is pertinent I charge you to be good ambassadors of the NYSC scheme. My dear children may our paths cross again and may our future be bright and prosperous. See you at the top soonest.”
