NiDCOM has announced the rescue of two more trafficked Nigerian girls in Ghana.

Eko Hot Blog reports that two more Nigerian girls have been rescued in Ghana after they were trafficked to the country from Nigeria.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday through Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit. NiDCOM.

The girls were rescued on Monday barely a week after 11 Nigerian girls trafficked to Ghana, were rescued.

According to Dabiri-Erewa, the two girls’ rescue was facilitated by the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) Ghana, under the leadership of the Chairman, BOT, Chief Calistus.

She said the trafficking victims are now in safe custody.

In videos seen by Eko Hot Blog, the girls alleged that they were smuggled into Ghana illegally.

Upon their arrival in Ghana, the ‘madam’ who smuggled them in tried to forced them into prostitution and went back on her promise to secure them jobs at supermarkets.

The girls said their refusal prompted the human trafficker to take naked pictures of them and threatened to release them if they expose the trafficking ring.

Reacting to the revelation, the NiDCOM chairman reiterated her call for concerted efforts in combating human trafficking in all ramifications as it is another form of modern day slavery.

She said the girls are giving useful information aimed at tracking down their traffickers as they were deceived into prostitution.

Dabiri-Erewa added that arrangements will be made to get them back to Nigeria and handed over to NAPTIP.

The two girls resided in Lagos before they departed Nigeria; one is from Edo, while the other is from Lagos.

Recall that 11 girls, aged between 15 and 16 years from Imo and Plateau States, were trafficked to Ghana under the guise of working there as salesgirls but were sold into prostitution.
