Cholera Outbreak: Lagos Water Corporation Is Taking These Safety Measures
Rotarian Oguntade spoke on Wednesday during the commissioning of 12 renovated toilets and rehabilitated water supply facility at the Arch Deacon Adelaja Senior High School in Bariga, Lagos.
The project is a collaborative effort between the Rotary Club of Gbagada, the Rotary Foundation, and the school Parents Teachers Association (PTA).
It aims to provide a clean and safe environment for students to learn and thrive.
Speaking on the significance of the renovated toilets and water facility, the Rotary Club of Gbagada president, Rotn Bunmi Oguntade said the project was inspired by the need to improve the school’s sanitation facilities, especially during a time when cholera is spreading in the community.
“We have invested money, time, and talent in this project, and our only prayer is for the school to maintain it and keep it up to standard,” Oguntade said.
“This project actually fell under hygiene and we are commissioning this project at this time we are having an epidemic of cholera around.
“This project is also another way to tell people that we need to be careful right from our toilet, not only in the kitchen aspect of it but from your toilet.
“You see that even outside the toilet, we had to do another washing hand basin there, so when they finish using the toilet the consciousness will be there to wash their hands.”
On her part, Ifeyinwa Ejezie, the Rotary Club District 9110 Governor, covering Lagos and Ogun states, commended the club for their dedication to community development, emphasizing the importance of maintenance and sustainability.
“Maintenance and sustainability are key. We need to maintain this project and sustain it so that we can come back and do more projects for the school,” she urged the school authority.
Also, students at Arch Deacon Adelaja Senior High School expressed their gratitude for the upgraded facilities, which will enhance their overall learning experience.
