Protest: FCT Police Deploy 4,200 Officers

Eko Hot Blog reports that Gabriel ‘General’ Asabuja, a former Niger Delta militant leader, has been declared wanted by the Rivers State Police Command.

The declaration was made by Tunji Disu, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, during an appearance on a Channels Television program on Tuesday, following a viral video where the ex-militant leader issued threats related to the tenure crisis of local government councils in the state.

Disu condemned the contents of the video, highlighting that Asabuja’s threats had caused significant panic within the state.

In the video, Asabuja was seen asserting his intention to seize control of Local Government Councils in Rivers State, boasting of having already taken over the Obio/Akpor Local Government Council area while directing threats towards the former council chairman.

According to Disu, Asabuja has been summoned by the police in connection with the video but has failed to respond to the invitation.

“We have initiated actions to apprehend him at the appropriate time. We have successfully apprehended many individuals of similar nature,” Disu assured during the televised interview.

He emphasized the seriousness with which the police viewed Asabuja’s actions, stating, “You cannot create a video threatening individuals and disrupting normal activities within the city and expect the police to stand idly by.”

Disu affirmed that efforts to locate and apprehend Asabuja are ongoing, adding that he is a wanted individual.

“He is wanted. That is correct,” reiterated the Rivers State Commissioner on the televised current affairs program.
