The Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Olayinka Fafoluyi popularly known as Solace has been unveiled as advocate of the University of Ilorin.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Fafoluyi alongside notable personalities including legendary Nollywood actor Femi Adebayo, Ace Presenter Seun Awogbenle amongst others were unveiled in a colourful celebration.
The event, which held at the university’s auditorium, celebrated their outstanding contributions to media, public relations, and community development.
The initiative, known as the UNILORIN Advocates, aims to recognize alumni who have significantly impacted their professions, communities, and alma mater.
Renowned for his prowess in public relations and digital marketing, Fafoluyi was commended for his dedication to nurturing the next generation of leaders.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Wahab Egbewole SAN introduced 23 distinguished alumni, highlighting their pivotal roles as ambassadors of UNILORIN’s values of excellence, integrity, and community engagement.
He underscored their responsibilities in enhancing the institution’s reputation both locally and internationally through leadership and collaboration.
Prof. Egbewole emphasized that advocates’ role extends beyond promotion, urging them to serve as mentors and role models to inspire current students towards impactful contributions in their communities.
“Your role goes beyond mere promotion. As advocates, you will also serve as mentors and role models for our current students, inspiring them to dream big, pursue their passions, and make a positive impact in their communities.
Our expectation is that you will share experiences, offer guidance, and provide opportunities for our students to thrive and succeed in their chosen paths.” he said.
Fafoluyi’s journey from student to advocate exemplifies a commitment to personal growth and mentorship.
A microbiology graduate from the ‘Better By Far’ University in 2017, Fafoluyi quickly was appointed as the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in 2019.
His effective handling of media challenges and enhancement of the Governor’s public image led to his promotion to Senior Special Adviser in the same portfolio in 2023.
