Crisis Deepens in APC UK
The leadership crisis rocking the United Kingdom chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a new turn as aggrieved members threaten to take legal action over their alleged disenfranchisement.
Eko Hot Blog reports that members claim they were excluded from participating in the party’s congress, which has been widely condemned by the secretary of the interim committee.
In a petition to the party’s headquarters, Prince Olusanjo Adebola Olurebi, a party member, alleged irregularities in the congress through his lawyers, AXIS Solicitors.
The petition states, “Our client and several members of the party in the UK were completely disenfranchised by the failure of the system put in place on January 13, 2024… Our client has been denied his legitimate right to participate and vote in the congress of the party’s chapter to which he belongs as a fully paid-up member.”

Olurebi, who is the Asiwaju of Egbaland in Manchester, called for the disbandment of the interim committee, citing its failure to execute its functions and represent the interests of all party members in the UK.
He alleged that the interim chairman took sides with some members to conduct a congress, which was unfair and undemocratic.
The secretary of the interim committee, J. K. Adebola, also alleged that his group was not allowed to participate in the congress, citing a lack of official communication from the party headquarters.
Olurebi warned that the crisis in the UK chapter is far from over and requires the intervention of the National Working Committee to prevent a “tsunami” that will hit the diaspora branch, which has always been a strong supporter of the party.
