Ongoing rescue mission in a two-storey building collapse in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, Abuja, has resulted in the rescue of four people alive from the rubble.

Eko Hot Blog gathered that the FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD) confirmed the incident, which occurred around 6:45am beside Cupid Hotel, Sultan Dansuki Road.

Two of the rescued victims have been taken to Kubwa General Hospital, while efforts continue to search for anyone else trapped in the building.

The FCT Emergency Management Department, National Emergency Management Agency, FCT Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, Civil Defense Corps, and Nigeria Police are all on the scene.

The collapsed building, previously used as a hotel and later converted for residential purposes, contained 45 self-contained rooms. FEMD’s Ag Director General, Mrs Florence Dawon Wenegieme, is on the scene, overseeing search and rescue efforts, which will continue until everyone is accounted for.

Wenegieme urged developers to strictly follow building codes and avoid using substandard materials to prevent such incidents.

Rescue efforts are ongoing, and the situation is being closely monitored.
