Trump’s Ex-Rival, Nikki Haley to Speak at Republican Convention
Nikki Haley, Donald Trump’s former rival, is scheduled to speak on the second day of the Republican National Convention, despite previously stating she would not attend the event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
On Sunday, Haley’s team informed multiple outlets of her attendance, a day after an assassination attempt on Trump.
Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, had challenged Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, engaging in numerous confrontations with him during her campaign. However, last week, she directed her 97 delegates to support Trump at the convention, emphasizing the need for party unity.
Haley has had a complicated relationship with Trump. After serving as the United Nations ambassador in his administration, she frequently criticized him during her presidential campaign, calling him “unhinged.” Trump responded with various insults, referring to Haley as “bird brain.”

Following a poor performance in the primaries, Haley dropped out of the race in March and initially withheld her endorsement of Trump. Two months later, she announced her intention to vote for him. Trump has indicated that Haley will have a role in his next administration “in some form.”
In the wake of the gunman attack at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania last Saturday, Haley posted on social media that she was “lifting up Donald Trump” in prayer.
The second day of the Republican National Convention follows Trump’s Monday announcement of his vice presidential pick, Ohio Senator JD Vance. While the full list of Tuesday’s speakers has not been released, a number of politicians are expected to take the stage under the theme “Make America Safe Once Again.”
