Reps Declare Vacant Seats of Late Members
Speaker Abbas Tajudeen of the House of Representatives declared the seats of two recently deceased members vacant during the plenary session on Wednesday, July 17.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that this move complies with section 68(2) of the amended 1999 constitution.
The late lawmakers are Hon. Olaide Akinremi, representing Ibadan North, and Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams, representing Chikun/Kajuru federal constituency of Kaduna state.

Hon. Akinremi passed away on Wednesday, July 10, while Hon. Ekene died on Tuesday, July 16, after a prolonged illness.
With this announcement, the contest for these two seats has officially begun.
