FG Ejects Policemen From Barracks, Pays Each N2m To Get Accommodation
Any other officer or men of the Nigerian police remaining in the dilapidated barracks already marked for demolition in Lagos is due for ejection by August.
This was according to an official directive by the police authorities dated May 15, 2025 that all men of the police living at Bourdillon Barracks, Falomo, Alausa Barracks, Obafemi Awolowo Way Ikeja, Police Mounted Troop, Ribadu, Ikoyi, Federal Highway Patrol Barracks, Yaba and Iponrin Police Barracks, Surulere and Ijeh Police Barracks should leave before August.
However, a source told Ekohotblog on Saturday that some of the policemen are yet to leave despite that the government pays each of them N2 million to get accommodation pending the rehabilitation of the bad structures.
The source who is also a cop said that the remaining officers inside Bourdillon Barracks would soon be forcefully ejected from the place.
The directive further said: “Payment of compensation to verified occupants of the listed barracks will commence immediately ahead of demolition of dilapidated structures and that the exercise is to pave the way for the construction of new structures which will commence in earnest.”
It also said personnel should be deployed to work closely with the company officials and their partners to ensure that every occupant vacates the barracks as soon as they are paid their dues and they should ensure completion of the process on or before May 30, 2024, to ensure that developers move to sites.
